Meet Danielle Loufrani, a successful French artist, who works and lives in Paris. Unique and independent of outside influences, she paints with total freedom, and a style that expresses her own true self.
In 1966 she is awarded the prestigious first price of New York, and two major pieces of her artwork are recognized world wide.
Those two pieces are the portraits of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. She is herself astonished by this sudden access to fame!
Today, Danielle has painted over four hundred pieces of which are in private collections throughout the United Sates and Europe.
Her style is distinct, powerful and truly hers.
She is one of Paris greatest living talent.

French Cheese Presentation
Thursday, March 18 at 6.30pm (in English)

Hosted by the Alliance Francaise with a special guest from Marky’s

For two hours you will be taken on a virtual tour of the various histories of French cheeses and learn how different factors lead to the hundreds of methods to create cheese based on “terroir” and the cultures of those regions.

You will receive an information packet and have the opportunity to taste the cheeses presented with some French wine. All cheeses featured are imported fresh from France by Marky’s Int’l.

Two exceptional concerts of Guillaume Roy (violist) and Claude Halter (violinist): a dialogue between the viollinist and the violist, in a program featuring Jazz & Bach.  

"Jazz&Bach" is a very unique musical event born out of a encounter between two exceptional French violinists: Claude Halter, a young soloist and only French fellow in the New World Symphony Orchestra (www.nws.edu) and Guillaume Roy, a great figure of contemporary music and improvised Jazz (www.myspace.com/quatuorixi).

The Alliance Française of Miami has programmed two concerts, one in a “classical” style at the Alliance Française, organized in partnership with the Bach Society of Miami and the other in a more “jazzy” ambiance at “Cubaocho Art and Research Center” on Calle Ocho.

Art singulier ? Art brut ? Art populaire ? Création du quotidien …
L’art modeste brouille les frontières artistiques et met en valeur le désir des gens d’embellir leur quotidien et celui des artistes de partager leur entreprise avec l’homme du commun.
Créé en 2000, à l’initiative de l’artiste Hervé Di Rosa, le MIAM conçoit et présente des expositions hors du commun, autour de sujets grand public, et dans lesquelles se côtoient toutes formes d’art populaire, d’art singulier et d’art contemporain. Il poursuit une réflexion sur la question des expressions artistiques modestes et sur leur rôle dans les différentes cultures, à l’heure de la mondialisation.
L’exposition The Global Caribbean, toujours visible au Little Haiti Cultural Center, Miami, jusqu’au 31 mars, sera présentée au MIAM à Sète du 12 juin au 17 octobre 2010

At this occasion, with the participation of the Consulates of Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, Haïti, and France in Miami, we are glad to invite you for Francophonie Day.

At 10 am the journey will start with films for kids presented by the Canadian Consulate.

After the lunch proposed by Café Bon-Appétit (more), two Swiss movies: Retour à Gorée and Mon Frère se marie presented by the General Consulate of Switzerland in Atlanta in colaboration with the Consulate of Swizterland in Miami.

During the day, you could see the exhibition of a Swiss paintor: Wicki Daniela, as well as a French Canadian potery artist exhibition in the Alliance Française.

Come at 3pm meet the Francophonian Consuls of Miami sponsored by Swiss chocolates!

WHAT IF...

Human forms in my works attend to conduct the spectator to the construction of a story that is always complementing for other parallel stories. They disclose some clues through the use of written words embedded or even hidden, as well as iconographic references - never simple reproductions of original works, that is not of my interest -, allusions, winks, glimpses, breaths, recurrent quotes, subversions or footnotes. Some of these clues come from masterpieces and are incorporated into my work, which holds an own path and telos and plays freely the postmodern game of appropriation. Thus, I feel entitled to declare: “I’m everything I see, I don’t hide my influences, but rather play with them, and by that way, grant them a body, a being”.
