French Cheese Presentation
Thursday, January 14th at 6.30pm (in English)
Hosted by the Alliance Francaise with a special guest from Marky’s
For two hours you will be taken on a virtual tour of the various histories of French cheeses and learn how different factors lead to the hundreds of methods to create cheese based on “terroir” and the cultures of those regions.
You will receive an information packet and have the opportunity to taste the cheeses presented with some French wine.
All cheeses featured are imported fresh from France by Marky’s Int’l.

Meeting with Olivier Haligon, great grand son of Louis Haligon, who has made the expansion of the Statue of Liberty for Bartoldi. Continuing this activity in the tradition of the family business Haligon Olivier opened his own studio in Miami in 1998.
He has worked with major artists of the twentieth century, including Miro, Dubuffet, Niki de Saint Phalle, Arman, Diego Giacometti, Raymond Mason, Botero, Jean Pierre Raynaud, Rafael Barrios and Hervé Di Rosa. ...
On the return trip to the Mondrian Hotel, South Beach opened in November 2008. Interior designer Marcel Wanders Netherlands, directed by Olivier Haligon workshop.

Rencontre/Lecture avec Eyda T. MACHIN, écrivain

Née à Cuba, Eyda T. Machin a obtenu la nationalité française et vit actuellement à Paris. Elle a publié trois recueils de poèmes: Los Invasores de la Soledad (78), Je suis beaucoup plus (05), Dans la voix du silence (08) et un livre de photographies Murmures du monde (08).
Passerelles, écrit en français, est son premier roman.
Passerelles est le récit d'une femme qui lutte avec son corps contre la souffrance physique et avec son coeur contre la douleur lancinante de l'exil. Son univers intérieur se fait plus vaste que le monde extérieur. Ainsi, l'auteur nous invite à un retour à sa terre natale, Cuba, lieu de mémoire, entre douceur de l'enfance et déchirement de la conscience.
Un auteur, une expérience... une vie à découvrir à l'occasion de cette rencontre/lecture organisée à l'Alliance Française.

Hilse Poletti-Martin by herself: I am an artist born in Valencia, Venezuela. I have been living in Miami for more than 20 years. My work is mostly done with acrylics on canvas and papers with a variety of mediums. I started painting many years ago and I haven’t stopped. January is a great time to open a bottle of Champagne and bring in the New Year! It is also the time to share wine with friends and family and open up those wines that warm our soul and remind us of the beautiful vineyards of France. We will visit the rolling hills of the Chablis region and stop to drink some wine in Beaune where the Dukes of Burgundy had their cellars. Finally, we will learn about St. Emilion before continuing our journey to the Left-Bank and the cabernet based wines of the Haut-Medoc. Come join us for an evening of good wine, good friends and lots of fun. You never know.it might even snow!
